Wildwood Garden Club Meeting: “The Tree Canopy and Why It Is Important”

PROGRAM: Paul Abbey will present “The Tree Canopy and Why It Is Important.” Paul Abbey is the founder and CEO of the local nonprofit organization, Rooted In Trees. Rooted In Trees is dedicated to restoring the northeast Ohio tree canopy while inspiring Ohioans to preserve the environment.
Paul Abbey began his love affair with trees early in life. Growing up in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, he was surrounded by trees and wildlife as he fished with his father. As an adult, his love for the canopy grew into a passion including not only exploration, but also preservation and advocacy. Rooted In Trees was born from that passion.
Today, Rooted In Trees works with communities to combat canopy loss through education and the planting of trees in Ohio. Paul will discuss the three pillars of Rooted In Trees dealing with the tree canopy; Education, Community Engagement, and Planting Trees. Paul will present a video and photos during his talk. YOUR HOST: Wildwood Garden Club was established in 1984 and its purpose is to enhance the gardens of Wildwood Cultural Center for generations to come, as well as to promote friendship and community among people with a common interest in gardening, flower arranging, and conservation.
The Garden Club meets at Wildwood Cultural Center on the third Wednesday of each month, September through June. Meetings consist of a free gardening program, or similar topic, followed by a business meeting and lunch.
Monthly programs are FREE and open to the public, but registration is required as spots are limited.
