About this Event
During the August 17 presentation at Coconino Center for the Arts, Ferris will share the knowledge he’s acquired about when and where to go to observe and photograph elk, pronghorn, deer, coyotes and other mammals. Bird photography enthusiasts will gain insight into good locations for hawks, falcons, eagles, hummingbirds and other winged creatures. This presentation also covers cameras, lenses and settings for bird and wildlife photography.
Please bring your own camera where feasible. The Digital Resource Center at Coconino Center for the Arts has a limited number of 4 cameras and lenses available to borrow, first come first serve.
Registrants are invited (but not required) to join Ferris for a wildlife photo walk early on the morning of Sunday, August 18. Participants will meet at the parking area of the Upper Lake Mary dam at 5:00 AM. We’ll walk from there across the Lower Lake Mary lakebed into the Coconino National Forest. This will be an off-trail out & back hike on uneven terrain covering a distance of about two miles.
Bill Ferris is a longtime nature photographer who has been exploring the forests and wetlands along the Lake Mary Road corridor since 2015. He’s been featured on “Arizona Wildlife Views” and honored as a finalist in “Arizona Highways” magazine’s annual wildlife photographer of the year competition.
Suitable for nature photography enthusiasts of all skill levels and ages.
