This course is designed to provide wildlife carers and volunteers with an understanding of the common wildlife parasites and diseases, how they present in care and how to apply best practice infection control measures in rehabilitation settings.The course covers
• How infectious disease is transmitted in the environment and during care
• Zoonotic disease and the risk to wildlife carers
• The role of microscopy in diagnosis and treatment
• Collection, management and analysis of samples
• Infection control principles in wildlife rehabilitation
• Some common wildlife parasites and diseases
The course is written and presented by our Microscopy Team, who have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of wildlife diseases seen at Kanyana.
This course is suited to
• Kanyana volunteers, especially new volunteers
• Wildlife volunteers at other centres
• Vet nurse or animal health students interested in working with wildlife
