About The Author
Dr. Ayana T. Hardaway is a visionary writer, scholar, and cultural theorist whose work challenges dominant narratives surrounding Black womanhood and girlhood and cultural trauma. Her research focuses on Black feminisms, the crack epidemic’s impact on Black communities, Black speculative methodology, and the intersection of education and social justice. A Philadelphia native, Dr. Hardaway earned her M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Urban Education from Temple University. Her groundbreaking work has been featured in Introduction to Afrofuturism: A Mixtape in Black Literature & Arts, the Journal of African American Women and Girls in Education, and Investing in the Educational Success of Black Women and Girls. Now based in San Diego, she continues to use storytelling as a radical tool for healing, resistance, and community transformation.
