In conjunction with the State Wildfire Task Force Meeting being held on March 27, 2025 in San Rafael, Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority (MWPA) and the Climate and Wildfire Institute (CWI) are pleased to sponsor a special evening with Dr. Daniel Swain, a renowned climate scientist from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Swain will present his research on climate and wildfire with a special emphasis on what we can learn from the recent Los Angeles fires.
A reception, just outside the ballroom, will be held prior to the event with a no-host bar and food. Attendees can network, mingle and converse about all things climate and wildfire with leaders and experts who will be in attendance from across the state. The reception will start at 4:30 p.m. with Dr. Swain to begin his presentation promptly at 6:00 p.m. Free parking is available at Embassy Suites.
About the Speaker: Dr. Daniel Swain, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), is presenting on Wildfires and Climate Change in California. Daniel (popularly known as "Weather West") currently holds joint appointments as a climate scientist within University of California (UC ANR), UCLA’s , and is a research fellow in the Capacity Center for Climate and Weather Extremes at the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
