Wilderness Skills: Wood Carving
Schedule
Sat, 25 Oct, 2025 at 12:00 pm
UTC-04:00Location
Camp Jordan Park | Chattanooga, TN
Learning how to use tools such as knives is a useful skill that every outdoor explorer should have. When children learn proper use early, they build confidence, develop fine motor skills, and are more likely to continue safe practices throughout their lives.
Each participating child will receive supplies they can use during the event and take with them to continue practicing their new wilderness skill at home. We'll discuss the benefits of using knives as well as proper handling and safety precautions before practicing cutting and carving various materials.
***There is a $10 fee for each participating child to cover the cost of supplies, and a limited number of spots are available. Though all ages are welcome, kids will need to be able to pay attention and adhere to all safety guidelines so please take your individual child's abilities into account before registering. Also, please be aware that we will be using real knives during this event.
