Music On A Whim is thrilled to present Wild Tales, an expedition through the labyrinthine recesses of some of electronic music’s most fertile minds.
Featuring the lurid sonic bloodletting of sleaze-hop iconoclasts Concentration, Christophe Clébard’s grimy, psychotropic synth-punk, and the soot-blackened technoid subversions of Exoterrism.

White knuckle rides seldom promise to be more hair-raising than this.

CONCENTRATION - Electropunk / Industrial / Experimental

Concentration are an avant-noise trio from Melbourne/Cottbus, who “have a cult local following for their completely off-the-wall, impassioned, queasy, magnificent performances, further amplified through their deeply odd but very considered releases on Bristol DIY label Avon Terror Corps” (Miscellania). Their work has been featured in Bandcamp Daily, Wire Magazine, and the Quietus - who labelled the band “one of tQ’s favourite groups” and regularly feature their music on their “best-of-the-year / essential” lists.

They have “a reputation for head-spinningly wild live performances” (Heads on Sticks) which have been described as “staggeringly unpredictable… beautiful, hilarious and terrifying all at once” (The Ransom Note) - including performances for the Berlin Atonal Festival, UH in Budapest, and the closing set at Zemlika in Latvia.

Their most recent tour with Baba Yaga’s Hut was labelled a “top 3 show of the year easily” by the Guardian’s Gareth Main and “one of the best gigs I’ve seen in years… just off the pipes horny, messy, banging, provocative, intense, hilarious” by the Quietus’ Luke Turner.

CHRISTOPHE CLÉBARD – Synthpunk / Electronic / Industrial

Italian, French-speaking and blessed with a Belgian accent Christophe Clébard brings a coherence that prevails both for his person and for his music: a wobbly mound, which sometimes resembles a series of explosions, sometimes a pile of layers cut by a flood of words from which parts can be distinguished. Relying on the amplified intonation of a saturated microphone, a pounding rhythm box and a synthesizer, his performances absorb the hearing to spit it out in a universe where nothing has any meaning, except "we're going to die". A punchline that he chants far from the cliché darkness of the dark wave, since for him death is jubilant and colorful, with the grim reaper as the owner of the nightclub. A nightclub well anchored in his head , without a future, with the upcoming emptiness and the hazy memory of his religious upbringing.

EXOTERRISM – Techno / Algorithmic / Noise

Fan Yau born in Hong Kong 1987), seeks the link between universal geometric consciousness and the meta-reality of information associations. Influenced by exoteric systems, Yau engages computer processed algorithms, errors, chaotic systems, feedback loops, artificial-intelligence, retro-causalities and syncronicity. Through experimentations of sound and visualization of it, its reaction on the human body, Exoterrism aims at creating short term hallucinations or out of body experiences. Technology through consciousness has surpassed the notion of space and time, patterns are repeating through a multidimensional expanding dynamic system, feed-backing into vibrations, energy and information. Human soul is a multiplexed binary gate and the mind, a consequence of a loop from the distance you are conditioned. Segmenting to different strata’s between thought and execution.
