WILD MUSHROOM SCAVENGER HUNT

Wild Mushroom Scavenger Hunt (self-led activity.) We’re celebrating the fascinating world of fungi at Big Haynes Creek Nature Center throughout the month of November with a fun-filled fall activity, ideal for all ages! Before you venture on the trails, print out the mushroom list and fascinating FAQs below to learn all about these unique specimens that you can find in virtually any forest.

Have a group of friends? Or a school group? Break everyone into teams and make it a fun competition! Give each team a camera and even if the teams don't find them all, gather around and talk about the ones you discovered! Do you hike on the trails frequently? If so, make it a 30-day challenge as you try your luck! A fun adventure for all any way you play!

Directions: Mark off your finds and snap a photo of each one. If you find them all, stop in the Georgia Intnernational Horse Park admin office to collect a prize! The GIHP office is located directly across the street from the nature center (across from Gate D.) Please be prepared to show off your photos!

(Note: Our office is open Mon - Fri from 8am-5pm , and closed on weekends. If you find all of the mushrooms outside of business hours, please submit your findings via email to [email protected] to arrange an alternative time to pick up your prize.)

This is a FREE family-friendly event. All ages welcome!
