Join us for an evening where hiking, learning, and food come together in one of Dubuque County's most popular natural areas.
Now in its third year, the Wild Harvest Dinner returns with a brand new setting in the Swiss Valley Preserve. This preserve has long been a favorite of many. For this special evening, we'll explore a side of the preserve that few visitors experience.
Beginning at the Nolan Lane Trailhead, we'll venture into the quieter southwestern portion of the preserve, following scenic trails alongside the cold waters of Catfish Creek. Along the way, we'll cross the suspension bridge, discover more about the landscape, and make a stop to enjoy a drink inspired by nature.
Each dish has been crafted using locally grown ingredients alongside sustainably foraged fruits, wild game, mushrooms, herbs, nuts, and wild flavors gathered throughout the seasons. Our dinner will be served at the scenic Bluebird Trail, where we'll gather overlooking the valley before completing our loop back to the trailhead towards dusk.
This unique experience is presented in partnership with Dubuque County Conservation, City Girl Farming, and Taproot Apothecary.
Trail Information
This experience includes approximately 1½ miles of hiking on natural surface trails.
Participants should be prepared for:
-A series of wooden steps
-Rolling hills and moderate inclines
-Uneven natural terrain
-Comfortable walking over approximately 1.5 miles
Please wear sturdy walking shoes and dress for the weather. This event is best suited for participants who are comfortable hiking on natural trails.
