About this Event
About the event as the Wheel of the Year turns towards Samhain, we step into a sacred liminal space where the veil between the worlds grows thin, a time when the realms of the living and the ancestors meet.
Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter, is also the Celtic New Year, a powerful moment of endings, beginnings, and transformation. For thousands of years, Samhain has been a time to honour the cycles of life, death, and rebirth.
It is when communities remember those who have passed on, welcoming ancestral spirits with offerings, and embracing the sacred mystery of darkness as a doorway to renewal. What is Samhain?Samhain (pronounced “SOW-in” or “SAH-win”) is an ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. Celebrated from sunset on October 31st through November 1st, Samhain is considered the Celtic New Year, a liminal time when the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead grows thin.
What Samhain Represents:
Honouring Ancestors and the Dead:
Samhain is a time to remember those who have passed on. It’s believed that the spirits of ancestors return to visit their loved ones, and offerings are made to welcome and honour them. This connection to ancestry brings guidance, wisdom, and healing from beyond the veil.
The Thin Veil Between Worlds:
Samhain is one of the few times in the year when the boundary between the physical world and the spirit realm is especially porous. This makes it a powerful moment for divination, ritual, and communion with the unseen forces.
Endings and New Beginnings:
As the harvest concludes, Samhain marks the closing of one cycle and the start of another, death and rebirth in a spiritual sense. It invites us to release what no longer serves us and plant the seeds for transformation and renewal.
Darkness and Light:
Samhain teaches us to embrace the dark, both literally and metaphorically. It is a celebration of the mystery, the shadow, and the divine feminine aspects of nature. From the darkness, new light emerges.
The Five Elements & Balance:
Like many ancient spiritual traditions, Samhain honours the elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit, recognizing their interconnectedness and the balance they bring to life, death, and transformation.
Why we Celebrate Samhain in Our Women’s Circle:
By coming together during Samhain, we join in a sacred lineage of women who have gathered for millennia to honour the cycles of nature, celebrate the ancestral wisdom flowing through our veins, and embrace our own power as creators and keepers of sacred fire. This gathering invites you to slow down, reflect deeply, release old patterns, and step forward renewed, connected to the earth, the elements, and the eternal flow of life.
What to Expect:
Together, inside the hearth and the temple, we will gather as women to remember, honour, and reclaim our wild, free, and empowered selves. The circle will open with the calling of the four corners, inviting the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water to surround us in balance and protection. Anchored between the physical and spiritual worlds, we will create a sacred container for deep connection.
We will be joined by Inese Burges who will be offering 2 free 1-2-1 readings on the night this comes on request and first come first serve basis.
We will also share a warm, intentional Witches’ Brew — an herbal infusion designed to awaken the heart and kindle the inner flame. A guided candle meditation will bring us into stillness, opening space to listen deeply to the whispers of our ancestors and the light within the dark.
This evening is a journey of ritual, remembrance, release, and renewal — honouring death as a doorway, the dark as divine, and the eternal wisdom of the five elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Spirit).
