WikiTakesPhotos: Long Island City

Join us for a guided photo tour of Long Island City as we document overlooked and underrepresented places for Wikimedia Commons.

We’ll start at the iconic Pepsi-Cola Sign, where you’ll learn about the waterfront, the area’s history, and its ongoing transformation. From there, we’ll walk through the neighborhood, capturing everything from historic landmarks to hidden local gems.

The tour will end at LaGuardia Community College, where you’ll receive hands-on training on how to upload your photos to Wikimedia Commons and contribute to related Wikipedia articles. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will also be served!

Together we can help expand public knowledge of Long Island City, while sharpening your photography and Wikipedia skills. All experience levels are welcome!

Registration is required for building entry. Please bring government -issued ID.
