Brief history:
Fort Widley is one of the forts built on top of Portsdown Hill between 1860 and 1868 on the recommendation of the Royal Commission on the Defence of the United Kingdom. It was designed, along with the other Palmerston Forts atop Portsdown, to protect Portsmouth from attack from the rear.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
Please feel free to bring with you any other refreshments that you require, although there is a little tuck shop there for your convenience

Please bring with you a torch and any paranormal equipment that you have, but don't worry if you haven't got any because we have plenty that you can try.
