About this Event
WIDE WATERS is a facilitated 8-week summer workshop conceptualized by experiential learning, collaboration and connection through the arts, the land around us and the cultivation of community through the principles of social sustainability. Through guided readings, discussion, tea ceremony, mindfulness, art, music and movement practices, we will build a collaborative container for the group through a collective sharing and integration of the materials.
Participants will spend the first half of the workshop building their tools individually and together to inwardly gain experience through the introduced material. The second half of this workshop explores the process of bringing one’s cultivated awareness into community through an act of creative expression and service.
Topics explored in ‘Wide Waters’ align with the season of summer through exploration of expansiveness in community and expression, including but not limited to:
-Land Acknowledgment
-Language and Intention
-Everyday Herbalism
-Developing Creative Process
-Sound, Song, Breath and Dreams
-The Power of Grief in Transformation
-Acts of Service
While engaging with the written works of Wendell Berry, Robin Kimmerer, bell hooks, Dr. Refaat Alareer, Francis Weller and more, the group will lean on the teachings of other artists, historians and social change makers while cultivating a sense of how individual creative spirit, when shared collectively and collaboratively, has the ability to strengthen communities. Workshops will be facilitated by Field + Form founder Daniela Hinman with guest presentations from local and regional educators, artists, herbalists and musicians. ‘Wide Waters’ summer session brings the wisdom and creativity from two guest presenters, Stephen Arevalo (Rumsen, Esselen, Cochiti Pueblo, Land Acknowledgement) and Rachael Williams (Sound, Song, Breath and Dreams).
Field + Form’s social sustainability workshops follow the seasonal shifts and changes of light and dark seasons, and the contents, practices and readings of each session connect with where we are in relation to annual cycles. Each workshop session is unique and different, and the evolution of the workshop is meant to evolve with the collaborative nature of the group.

Rachael Williams
Guest Presenter on Sound, Song, Breath and Dreams
ASCAP award winning singer/songwriter from Pacific Grove, California.
HOLYSEA is the moniker of artist Rachael Chloe Williams. Since unearthing her love of songwriting and band-fronting on the eve of her 30th solar return, she hasn’t looked back. Honored and spurred by an ASCAP foundation Jay Gorney award win in 2020, she has been compiling a sea’s worth of songs and is excited to begin to share them with the world!
HOLYSEA’s vocal instructor and friend Robert Edwards coined her stage name after receiving a vision about it in a dream. He knew Rachael as a trained and seasoned marine ecologist/activist and saw her as a protector of the majesty of mama ocean, aka the Holy Sea.
In alignment with her chosen name, HOLYSEA’s music serves as a salve for the soul and a key for locked hearts. It is her wish that sharing the songs which flow through her will help to elevate the listener and encourage each of us to act from love so that we may see that reflected back in the mirror of the world.
