Join us for a conversation with Stephen Savage to celebrate his new book, Wide Load on the Road: A Big Red Truck’s Journey, the wonderfully illustrated story of a big truck perserving to finish a big job. He will be in conversation with Steven Guarnaccia, followed by a signing.

Stephen Savage is a New York Times bestselling children’s book illustrator and author whose accolades include a New York Times Best Illustrated Book (Polar Bear Night), a Geisel Honor (Supertruck), and a Sendak Fellowship. In addition to books, he illustrates for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, and Entertainment Weekly. He’s taught illustration at the School of Visual Arts since 2001 and lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn with his wife, daughter and their dog.
Steven Guarnaccia is an illustrator and Professor Emeritus at the Parsons School of Design. He was formerly Op-Ed art director of the New York Times. He has created illustrations for major magazines and newspapers in the US and abroad as well as murals for Disney, watches for Swatch and greeting cards and exhibition drawings for the Museum of Modern Art. He is the author of books on popular culture and design including Black and White and A Stiff Drink and a Close Shave. His children’s books about design include Goldilocks and the Three Bears: a Tale Moderne, The Three Pigs: An Architectural Tale and Cinderella: a Fashionable Tale. His most recent books are The Story of Pasta, about the origin and meanings of pasta names; Interior Desecration, a collection of drawings about design and architecture and The Museum of Nothing, a picture book about nothing. His exhibition of three-dimensional objects, Fatherland, has been exhibited in Bologna, London, Barcelona, Berlin, and NY.
