Join us for the Reception + Artist Talk of the Wide Horizons: Ocean Springs Pilgrimage Walkabout on July 18 from 2-5PM!This exhibition invite artists, activists, poets, and musicians to explore what creates a sense of home, belonging, and connection to place. Inspired by Australian Aboriginal walkabout traditions, participants sought to discover the spiritual essence of Ocean Springs through mindful observation, silence, prayer, meditation, and creative practices rooted in the natural world.
Throughout the journey, they deepened their relationship with the landscape by experiencing it from new perspectives and searching for the deeper meaning of their home place. The resulting artworks reflect these experiences and extend the pilgrimage to viewers, inviting them to share in a deeper connection with nature, community, and the Gulf Coast.
Also, join author, Ellen Gabardi, for a reading and book signing for her book “To Hold it All!” 100% of proceeds from her book sales go to the Museum!
This exhibition is part of Wide Horizons, a multi-year program that brings together art, science, and environmental action for 7th and 8th grade students across the Gulf Coast. Inspired by the art, writings, and philosophy of Walter Inglis Anderson (1903–1965), the program encourages students to explore the connections between people, place, and the natural world through hands-on learning and creative expression.
We hope to see you there!
