Award-winning duo Wicker Suite are hitting the road with their heartfelt and down-to-earth tour: The Way That It Was. Inspired by the classic country hall tours of Slim Dusty and Joy McKean—and following in the footsteps of modern trailblazers like Fanny Lumsden and the Festival of Small Halls—Wicker Suite is heading to New Zealand, bringing their music, stories, and good humour!
Wicker Suite is one of the most exciting new acts in Australian country-roots. Together, New Zealand singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Liam Kennedy-Clark and Australian award-winning fiddle player Gabi Louise have quickly become known for their distinctive blend of country, bluegrass, and folk—earning two Golden Guitar Awards and charting in the Country Music ARIA Top 20 with their 2024 debut album, This Is Wicker Suite. But while the accolades speak volumes, it’s their live shows that leave lasting impressions: full of exceptional musicianship, captivating stories, quick wit, and deeply moving songs. From nostalgic folk and fiery bluegrass, The Way That It Was is a show that honours tradition while making room for the next generation of storytellers.
Each performance on the tour will be held in a local country hall, featuring not only Wicker Suite’s music but also spotlighting local artists and community initiatives.
