WiC Nanaimo Summer Social | Honour the Work
About this Event
This amazing event is just around the corner! Join us July 8th to ‘Honour the Work' of our industry and promote construction/trades as a career pathway for young people in our community.
With your help, this year our event will be supporting Honour the Work, a collaboration between BCCA and the BC Road Builders Association to distribute STEAM kits to elementary classrooms throughout British Columbia.
We have confirmed with them that we can direct funds to classrooms in the Nanaimo area, and if we are able to meet the same level of fundraising efforts that we have the last 2 years we will be able to fund a kit for every elementary school in SD68!
Honour the Work STEAM kits (Science, Technology, Engineerings, Arts, and Math) introduce students in grades 1 to 6 to skilled trades and AEC careers:- the turn-key kits include lesson plans, student handouts and electronic links for additional resources- the kits are hands on and multi-disciplinary, providing a class set of building materials in each one
What to expect: Join us for an evening of food, laughter, networking and fundraising! This event is our biggest and most popular of the year, bringing together a community of amazing women to enjoy a night out and give back. Welcome snacks, games, silent auction, a delicious dinner, prizes and more!
