Through stories of industrial heritage, local character, and the pride that binds its people, John Homer reveals what makes the Black Country unique – and why it continues to inspire such affection today. Expect a mix of insight, laughter, and a true flavour of Black Country life.About the Speaker
John Homer is a historian, poet, and performer, born and raised in Quarry Bank and a lifelong resident of the Black Country. A familiar face at the Black Country Living Museum, where his engaging character performances have reached global audiences, John has built a reputation as a storyteller who brings the region’s past to life. With a background in community work and public speaking, he now shares his passion for the Black Country through talks, performances, and writing.
About the Venue
Our monthly events are based at Penn Bowling Club, 10 Manor Road, Penn, Wolverhampton, WV4 5PY. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, has good parking, toilet facilities and a bar. For users of public transport, the 15/16 bus routes along the Penn Road can be followed by a short walk up Manor Road to the venue.
