Amalie Dahl’s DafnieOceňovaný kvintet Amalie Dahl’s Dafnie je energický a výrazově silný soubor z Norska, vedený dánskou saxofonistkou a skladatelkou Amalie Dahl, která působí v Oslu. Kvintet obohacuje její skladby hravostí a silným přesvědčivým výrazem. To, co slyšíme, je harmonické, a přesto avantgardní – s odkazy jak na oldschoolový free jazz, tak na moderní současné kapely vedené dechovými nástroji. Hudba je tvořena důkladně komponovanými motivy a melodiemi, stejně jako strukturami a atmosférami, kolem nichž pozorně naslouchající a interagující soubor improvizuje a využívá je jako výchozí bod.
Kapela byla v minulosti spojována s ansámbly, jako jsou Fire! Orchestra a Christian Wallumrød Ensemble – ale buďte si jisti, že Dafnie je svébytný projekt.
Soubor tvoří pět známých jmen norské jazzové scény, která jsou známá i z dalších projektů, jako například Bliss Quintet, I like to sleep, Veslemøy Narvesen, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (Exit) Knarr a Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. V roce 2024 získali ocenění v kategorii „Singl roku“ na Danish Music Awards Jazz.

Amalie Dahl’s Dafnie The award-winning quintet Amalie Dahl’s Dafnie is an energetic and expressive ensemble from Norway, led by Danish-born, Oslo-based saxophonist and composer Amalie Dahl. The quintet color her compositions with playfulness and great conviction. What we hear is harmonic yet avant-garde, with references to both old school, free jazz and modern contemporary reed-led bands. The music consists of thoroughly composed cells and melodies, as well as structures and atmospheres, which the listening and interactive ensemble improvises around and uses as a focal point.
The band has previously been associated with ensembles such as Fire! Orchestra and Christian Wallumrød Ensemble - but rest assured, Dafnie is something of its own.
The band contains five well-known names from the Norwegian jazz scene, also known from other projects like Bliss Quintet, I like to sleep, Veslemøy Narvesen, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (Exit) Knarr and Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, among others. In 2024 they won the category “Single of the year” in Danish Music Awards Jazz.
