Join us for a panel discussion on the Electoral College vs. the National Public Vote, proudly hosted by the League of Women Voters and the Southern Tier Independence Center.Why did our nation's founders agree to the system of an Electoral College to elect the President of the United States? What is the Electoral College Act? What are the pros and cons of the Electoral College? Should our country change our system and use the National Popular Vote instead of the Electoral College? How might this happen? Learn the answers to these questions and more!
Panel Members:
Linda Biemer, retired Professor and Dean at Binghamton University. A 55-year member of the LWV.
Carla Michalak, retired Professor of Political Science, VP of the LWVBTC and member of the state LWV-ERA committee.
John McNulty, Public Policy Specialist at STIC, previously a political science professor specializing in American voting and elections.
