Not so long ago, the Headquarters for the National Speleological Society was moved to TAG's own Huntsville Alabama. Since then cavers have been toiling away, making the changes and upgrades necessary for making this building ready to be the epicenter for all cavers in the United States. That's a lot just saying. There has been a lot of work already done but there is still so much more to be done. The work isn't that hard but it takes volunteers willing to get their hands dirty and most importantly, time. Put plainly; man hours (or women hours)
It just can't be done by one or two people. And sure the NSS could hire contractors to come knock it out but contractors cost money, money that could be used to help conserve caves, or help a population of bats to survive, or get the message out to the next generation of cavers out there that caves are worth saving in the first place. Anyhow, here's where you come in. Here's where you could make a huge impact on caves all across the nation. The work to be done is something anyone (with appropriate guidance) can accomplish. Nothing too difficult, nothing too dangerous, nothing too technical. Just show up and you will be tasked with something that you can handle based on your ability and you wont be alone in doing it. Come help us one day. Donate one morning and afternoon of your time towards making the NSS Headquarters caver ready. Come cheer us on even if you can't or don't want to help. Many hand make light, the work. Come check out the Headquarters if you've never seen it before. It's pretty cool and it's worth pitching in for one day. Let's show them how much we love caving!
