Join us at Great Yarmouth Town Hall for a fascinating talk with Great Yarmouth Heritage Guides. The Who put the Great in Great Yarmouth? talk explores the rise of the town as an important port, commercial fishery and defensive centre from the early medieval period onward and looks at the legacy of these prosperous times.
Our speaker, Stuart Burgess will chart the evolution of the sand spit upon which Great Yarmouth is built, the dominance of the Herring Fayre, Cinque Port Barons, Castle, Tolhouse and Abbeys, as well as looking at the way the town has adapted and changed to meet our modern liferstyles.
Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee on arrival, followed by the talk which will last approximately 50 minutes and the option to ask questions afterwards.
The nearest pay and display car park is located on King Street, just a short walk from the Town Hall.
Booking essential (by Sunday 6 October, 1pm). £5.50 per person.
