Year 7!!! This year has been especially difficult and I've been missing Dad and Ricky more deeply compared to other years. I think that is why I feel like we're a little late in getting this out to everyone. This weekend made 5 years since Ricky's passing (complete with an earthquake when he kicked in the door of Heaven!!) and this feels like the perfect time to send this out.
It doesn't generally help us to look back and say "What if..." and second guess things/decisions we've made once our loved ones are gone. However, while I've certainly missed these two knuckleheads, they remind me daily to remain present & to spend more time with family and friends while I have them. Still being taught life lessons even when they aren't here...
Last year, we revealed that we made the decision to make Boone our annual destination and the Hurricane Helene had her own idea about WNC. And, as fate would have it, there is a pretty big football game the weekend we are planning this year's ride. Because of that we are going to Blowing Rock, NC.
October 4 (Dad's birthday) @ 0900, we'll head out from dad & Ricky's final resting place at Gaston Memorial Park and the ride will finish in Blowing Rock, NC. We'll have plenty of stops along the way for gas, rest and pictures and we'll be looking for lunch on the way up.
