Where breath becomes sound and clay finds its voice.
Join ceramic artist Marcia Selleri for a two-day, hands-on workshop exploring the connection between breath, form, and sound. Participants will learn to sculpt functional ceramic whistles and ocarinas using handbuilding techniques rooted in ancient traditions and contemporary play.
On Day 1, you’ll create a single-tone whistle or ocarina while learning the basics of airflow and tone.
On Day 2, you’ll explore double-frequency whistles, acoustic “beat,” and have the option to turn your piece into a frog or other imaginative form.
No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.
You will learn to:
Build functional whistles and ocarinas
Understand basic ceramic acoustics
Create single and double-frequency instruments
Sculpt expressive, playful forms
What to bring:
Smooth mid-range stoneware clay, small towel, apron, and a sketchbook.
