Rab athlete, Amy Jane David, is a professional skier, mountain athlete, guide and storyteller. Spending countless days in the mountains, she documents beautiful scenes through photography, film, and writing. While her skiing style may lead one to believe she’s fueled purely by adrenaline, she has a soft, soulful resonance with nature and ease of connecting with animals. Find her on horseback, hiking with her dog, hunting backcountry ski lines, or pinning it on her snowmobile. She has been a backpacking guide for 14 years, is an avalanche instructor, an Apprentice AMGA Ski Guide, completed the AIARE Pro 2 training, and is a Wilderness First Responder.
A night of storytelling from Amy’s solo multi-sport adventure in the Wind River Mountains combining backpacking, packrafting, scrambling, and horses. The slideshow presentation chronicles her journey across rugged terrain intersecting the tallest peak in Wyoming with the headwater source of the Green River. She shares the depth of exploring her own mind while alone in the wilderness, assesses the risk reward of uncertainty, and intertwines human history and geology of the mountain range. This presentation is for anyone who enjoys mountain adventure, eager to learn more about solo backpacking, and taking a deeper look at one of the most vast mountain ranges in the lower 48.
