Which Monsters?

Which Monsters? nasce da una sensazione condivisa da molti giovani oggi: rabbia, smarrimento e urgenza di fronte a un mondo attraversato da crisi ambientali, sociali e culturali sempre più evidenti. La giovinezza non è soltanto il tempo della formazione, ma anche il momento in cui queste crisi vengono percepite in modo diretto e spesso violento, generando domande che non possono più essere rimandate: chi sono i mostri che dobbiamo affrontare? da dove vengono? come convivere o reagire?

Il titolo del progetto non offre una risposta, ma rivendica il diritto di porre la domanda. I “mostri” non sono figure astratte o fantastiche: sono paure quotidiane, ingiustizie strutturali, responsabilità collettive difficili da nominare. In questo senso, la giovinezza diventa una forza critica e rivoluzionaria, capace di mettere in discussione ciò che appare inevitabile.

Il concerto si sviluppa come un percorso che attraversa tre dimensioni fondamentali dell’esperienza giovanile: crescere, domandare, agire. Dalla costruzione dell’identità personale e affettiva, al momento in cui nascono le prime domande sul mondo, fino al confronto diretto con le tensioni del presente, la musica diventa uno spazio in cui queste istanze possono essere ascoltate, condivise e tenute aperte.

Il programma mette in dialogo opere del Novecento storico e della creazione contemporanea per clarinetto e pianoforte, una formazione che per sua natura vive ai margini del repertorio canonico e che ben rappresenta uno sguardo giovane, non pacificato, ancora in cerca di direzioni.

"Which Monsters?" is born from a feeling shared by many young people today: anger, confusion, and urgency in the face of an increasingly evident world marked by environmental, social, and cultural crises. Youth is not only a time of learning but also the moment when these crises are perceived directly and often violently, raising questions that can no longer be postponed: who are the monsters we must face? Where do they come from? How to coexist or react? The project's title does not offer an answer but asserts the right to ask the question. The "monsters" are not abstract or fantastical figures; they are daily fears, structural injustices, collective responsibilities difficult to name. In this sense, youth becomes a critical and revolutionary force, capable of challenging what seems inevitable. The concert unfolds as a journey through three fundamental dimensions of youthful experience: growing, questioning, acting. From the construction of personal and emotional identity to the moment when the first questions about the world arise, to the direct confrontation with present tensions, music becomes a space where these issues can be heard, shared, and kept open. The program brings together works from the historical 20th century and contemporary creations for clarinet and piano, an ensemble that naturally exists on the fringes of the canonical repertoire and well represents a youthful, unresolved perspective still seeking direction.
