Mnomen, or wild rice, is a culturally and historically significant crop for the Native peoples of the Great Lakes. Join us as Cecil Wilson, historian for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi, explores the historical and contemporary connections between mnomen and the Pokagon people. A hands-on display will accompany the talk and recreate a traditional wild rice camp to demonstrate the methods used to harvest this vital food.Tickets are free for Museum members and $10 for non-members. A virtual lecture pass is also available. Doors open at 6 PM. You can purchase tickets for this event online, over the phone, or in-person.

About Our Presenters:
Cecil Wilson is an enrolled member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi and belongs to the Turtle Clan. He serves as his tribe's historian through their Center of History and Culture. His job functions through the National Historic Preservation Act, where he works to safeguard and interpret historically and culturally significant locations and material for his people.
