When English Is an Additional Language: Barriers in the Legal System
About this Event
People who use English as an Additional Language may face particular challenges when navigating the UK legal system. Legal communication can be difficult not only because of specialist vocabulary, but also because of complex grammar, indirect meanings, idioms, inferences and assumptions about context. Join us for an afternoon of short presentations and discussions which address these barriers, and how they may be overcome.
