This class with Gloria Kosco is for those who wish to delve into the rich history of wheel-thrown pottery while advancing their skills. Students will learn through hands-on exercises designed to strengthen personal methodology, so some previous experience is helpful. We will examine how our hands directly affect the clay during the wheel’s spinning. We will identify movements that knock the pot “off center.” You will learn to define and consolidate your movements. Focusing on the upward flow of the clay, you will improve your ability to bring the clay up from the bottom of the pot. Discussions will include information on pottery throughout time into the present.Weekly classes include:
- 3 hours of instructional time per week
- 12.5lbs of clay, glazes, and up to 8 finished pieces.
- Tools and materials.
- Please bring your own apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting muddy.
