Class Description:
Join artist Elsa Mora for a four-week exploration into the delicate art of underglaze painting using watercolor techniques on ceramic tiles. In this hands-on ceramics class, students will explore the painterly art of using underglaze like watercolor to create expressive, layered works on bisque-fired ceramic tiles. Perfect for both ceramicists and painters, this class bridges traditional ceramic surface design with the fluidity and transparency of watercolor painting techniques.
Working on smooth white bisqueware tiles, participants will learn how to mix and dilute underglazes for soft washes, gradients, and detailed linework. Through demonstrations and guided experimentation, students will develop their own tile-based compositions using brushes and other tools. Each student will complete 2-4 finished pieces that will be clear glazed and kiln-fired after class.
This workshop is suitable for all levels, including beginners with no prior ceramics or painting experience.
