Bridging the Gap 6 Week course. Learn everything to know about throwing on the potters wheel!
You might be a good fit if you can:
Center clay consistently (even if not perfectly every time)
Open and pull a basic cylinder or bowl with some control
Make simple forms but still need guidance with shaping and stability
In this class, we build on your foundation and start refining your technique. The focus shifts from “figuring it out” to “improving consistency.”
Think of this as the “confidence builder” stage, where the basics start to feel less like effort and more like skill.
Course Details:
🗓️ Start Date: July 23 until August 27 2026
Thursday evening, once a week, for 2 hours, over 6 weeks
⏰ Time: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
📍 Location: Beyond Pottery, Burlington, ON
👩🏫 Instructor: Cas Bolland
👥 Suitable for: Complete beginners, no prior experience needed
🎨 Includes: Clay, tools, glazes, and kiln firings
What You’ll Learn:
Improving wall thickness control
Creating more intentional forms (less collapsing, more structure)
Refining centering and pulling techniques
Increasing repetition to build confidence
Preparing for the transition into Intermediate Wheel
Who Can Join?
This workshop is for anyone aged 16 and up who have done the basics.
Pro Tips for Success:
✨ Avoid wearing jewelry or having long nails—they can get in the way
✨ Bring an apron or an old t-shirt and a towel
Pick-Up Information:
Your pieces will typically be fired during the course. You can collect finished works during sessions or after the course ends. We’ll notify you by email when everything is ready.
*Please note due to limited space we can only hold your pieces for 3 weeks after we've sent you our "pick up" notification.* After that time period Beyond Pottery is not responsible for keeping your works.
