About this Event
Date: February 19, 2026
Time: 5:30pm-7:00pm
Location: The Nest at SafeNest
Teen dating violence often goes unnoticed until serious harm occurs. This important panel discussion will shed light on the warning signs, behaviors, and risks that adults may not always see—including the very real and dangerous role of strangulation in abusive relationships.
Experts will discuss how to recognize red flags, how to intervene safely, and how to start honest, supportive conversations with teens about healthy relationships, boundaries, and safety. Attendees will gain practical tools to help prevent violence before it escalates and to better support young people who may be at risk.
Panelists:
- Andrea Furtos, LCSW, Director of Clinical Services at SafeNest
- Sarah Hawkins, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Shining Minds
This event is ideal for parents, caregivers, educators, advocates, youth-serving professionals, and community members who want to better understand teen dating violence and learn how to take action.
Light bites and refreshments will be provided.
