About this Event

What Are We Carrying? is a special women’s discussion inspired by Autoimmunity and the Good Girls: How Permission to Put Ourselves First Has the Power to Keep Us Well by Sara Hirsh Bordo.

So many women are taught to be strong, selfless, accommodating, and endlessly giving. We carry the mental load, the emotional load, the family load, and often the physical consequences of trying to hold it all together.

Join R&B and Books for an honest, welcoming conversation about motherhood, stress, people-pleasing, burnout, rest, boundaries, and the permission to finally put ourselves on the list.

Through guided reflection prompts and community conversation, we will explore questions like:

• What are you carrying that no one sees?
• When was the last time you rested without guilt?
• If no one needed anything from you for one week, what would you do?
• What would putting yourself first actually look like?
• What can we finally put down?

This is not a lecture or therapy session. It is a space for women to pause, reflect, connect, and remember that we do not have to carry everything alone.
