A seminar will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Salt Lake BD Auditorium (Salt Lake Stage) (Air-conditioned). People of all ages are welcome to attend. The ticket price is ₹50. For those wishing to purchase tickets on the spot (at the venue), the cost will be ₹100 per person.

After the age of 60—particularly for those whose children live abroad, or for those who are living alone, childless, or unmarried—it becomes inevitable to ponder: who will look after them in the future, and where will they live? Within the current socio-economic framework, the majority of elderly individuals in urban areas are compelled to live alone. Their primary reliance often falls upon hired domestic help. Driven by necessity and mirroring trends in other nations, various service agencies and "Senior Living" facilities are continuously emerging in our country as well. However, most people lack a comprehensive understanding regarding what organizations have emerged (or are emerging) in West Bengal—specifically in and around Kolkata—what their standards are, what specific services are available at different locations, how to access in-home assistance services for the elderly, or what government-sponsored services exist. This forms the central theme of the seminar.

1.       Dr. Dhiresh Kumar Chowdhury: Founder, Bachbo Healing Touch Foundation; Treasurer, Geriatric Society of India (West Bengal Chapter). Topic: An Overview of Organizations Providing In-Home Care Services for the Elderly in West Bengal.

2.       Dr. Mohan Chandra Dalui: Assistant Professor, Haldia College; Research Scholar (Old Age Homes in West Bengal). Topic: The Current Status of Government-Aided Free Old Age Homes and Private Old Age Homes in West Bengal.

3.       Dr. Amitabh De Sarkar: Secretary, Thikana Shimla. Topic: Types of Senior Living Facilities—How to Identify a High-Quality Senior Living Option.
