Whangaparāoa College Wetland Working BeeLocal community members, families and students are all warmly invited to join Whangaparāoa College and Restore Hibiscus & Bays (RHB) in restoring the wetland on the school grounds to a restore healthy, fully functioning ecosystem.
We’ve already made great headway, with enthusiastic students learning lots and making a real difference for their taiao.

Did you know Whangaparāoa College has a wetland on site?
Wetlands play a vital role by:
Filtering stormwater runoff before it reaches the sea
Reducing flooding by acting as a natural stormwater reservoir
Providing habitat for threatened native birds, lizards and insects
What’s involved?
Help remove invasive pest plants such as moth plant, woolly nightshade, banana passionfruit and more — creating space for native species to thrive.
- All tools and training provided
- Please bring gardening gloves and drinking water
- Wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather
- Snacks provided
Meeting point:
Enter via the back entrance on Berdinner Road.
Park by the courts and walk straight along the path beside the courts to the meeting point.
