📢 CALLING NEWCASTLE-BASED ACTORS AND PERFORMERSJoin the 2025 Whale Chorus Shakespeare Ensemble.
For the first time in three years Whale Chorus is offering a part-time professional actor training program in Shakespeare and ensemble theatre culminating in a site-specific performance of Shakespearean tragedy.
8 week Part-time Course
🗓️Wednesday 22 October - Wednesday 10 December 2025
(with performances Dec 5th-7th)
⏰Wednesdays (6pm-9pm) & Saturdays (10am-5pm)
💥80+ hours of comprehensive professional actor training in voice, text, ensemble theatre, clown and stage combat
💥Led by Whale Chorus Artistic Director Janie Gibson, specialising in Linklater Voice, text & ensemble
💥Guest tutors including Tim Dashwood (Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir), Adam Deusien (Lingua Franca), Alicia Gonzalez (Lecoq) and Isobel Kirk (NIDA).
💥Work in a theatrical ensemble to collaborate and devise an original site-specific reimagining of a Shakespearean tragedy in Newcastle.
The Shakespeare Ensemble is open to performers with a range of experience levels from curious beginners eager to gain professional skills, to experienced artists seeking to reinvigorate their practice.
Places are strictly limited to 16 participants, with scholarship positions available.
