The Workshop
Don’t want to create a picture with paint? Love the feeling of soft wool? Then this is the workshop for you!
Your tutor, Liz, is looking forward to meeting you and says “This workshop gives participants all the basic information and skills to learn the technique of wet felting. Create your very own artwork from dry wool fibres, silks, nepps, yarns and much more.
Felt is surprisingly strong and no two pieces will ever be the same, this is the time to embrace your creativity and add your personal mark. This method of felting uses soap, warm water and agitation to tangle fibres together to create felt. In approximately 6 hours you will explore making your own artwork, you will be guided through laying out your design, choosing colours and textures, blending wool to create different shades and then the wet felting process. We will look at how to further enhance your work with embellishments such as beads and embroidery to add further surface texture and detail.
All materials, equipment and tuition to support and guide you through the process of wet felting using traditional hand rolling techniques. You will also receive PDF notes to take away with you for reference later.”
What is the cost?
£80 + £1.50 card fee. This includes all the materials needed to make your felt landscape, PDF notes to take away with you for reference, and refreshments during the day (excluding lunch)
How many places are available?
To ensure the quality of your personal experience, the group size is limited to 8.
What are the timings?
This is an exciting, engrossing, full-day running from 10am to 4pm … watch your landscape develop infront of your eyes!
Our purple front door will be open from 9.30am so we can welcome you in, you can get to meet Liz and your fellow crafters and grab a cuppa before you start.
What’s skills are needed?
This workshop is suitable for adults at all levels, from complete beginners, to those with experience. Please note: A certain degree of upper arm fitness is required, participants may find it easier standing up while felting.
