Westie One Class series: Sep 20, 27, Oct 4, 2026

WCS Basics instruction starts here!-
Westie One is a progressive series of three classes that includes practice time each week. We'll cover the three foundational patterns, connecting with a partner, moving to a variety of music. No experience or partner necessary. (this level was previously called "Basics").
To follow that up in Oct. we have a Westie Two series to show you more moves, how to turn, and build on what you learned in Westie One. (Westie Two was previously Basics Plus).

$50 per series
Class is conducted by switching partners. Couples will also switch partners, and can dance as a couple in the practice following class.
Who is this Class for?:
-absolute beginners - new to West Coast Swing
-Bootcampers who want to learn more
-Basics or Basics Plus(last year) dancers who want a refresh
-Experienced Dancers who want to improve their primary role by learning the alternate (Lead/Follow).
-Improver Level dancers - FREE! - if you are registered in your primary role for Sep Improver Series (same dates, 7-8:15), AND apply for Westie One in your alternate role.
-Future Ambi-Dancers - you want to dance either Lead or Follow to any song, and want to take the Ambi-dance classes in Spring '27. Start in Sept with Westie One in your alternate role, and continue through Westie Two, Westie Three, and Improver Fall and Winter.
Details: St. Andrews Centre, 3380 Barnstead Lane, Halifax, Multi-purpose room. Doors open at 5pm, Class 5:15-6:30, stay for practice time (combined-level dancers also present) from 6:30-7:00pm (included in class fee).

Note that WCS is a de-gendered dance - anyone can learn to dance as a Lead or a Follow - we just try to balance the class within reason.
