Where: AFFCNY's New Paltz Office ~ 108 Main Street #5, New Paltz, NY 12561
Join the AGAPE team for a fun filled night of connection created specifically for youth ages 4 -14 who:
are adopted
have been in foster care
are in kinship care,
are in custody with anyone other than a biological parent
are in a guardianship arrangement
We are thrilled to offer a new in-person Youth Hangout for adoptive, guardianship, and kinship youth ages 4-14. This group aims to provide youth with an opportunity to connect, discuss, and support each other around the issues that matter the most to them.
This group will run concurrently with the in-person Hudson Valley Caregiver Connection Group. Each month will center around a different theme/topic, which will also be explored in the caregiver connection group. Possible topics might include, identity, friendships, mental health, or emotional regulation techniques. No matter the topic, our facilitators will encourage youth to play an active role in determining the group topics, activities, and discussions.
The Youth Hangouts will be facilitated by AGAPE staff with lived experience (adults who grew up in adoptive, foster or kinship care).
Important: All virtual and in-person youth adoptee, kinship, guardianship group participants’ parents/caregivers must be active and enrolled AGAPE families. Please email Trudy Kent, MSW ([email protected]) if you would like to become an AGAPE family.
Capacity: There is no participant capacity but parents/caregivers must register their child(ren) so we can ensure we have the correct amount of youth facilitators in attendance.
The youth group and the parent group both are held at the same time and place, so parents and kids can both get the connection they need! We can’t wait to see you!
