Western Canada Women's Conference 2026
About this Event
The Western Canada Women’s Conference (WCWC) is an annual academic advocacy gathering dedicated to reimagining systems through a gendered lens. Rooted in modern-day feminism, this event brings together scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders to address critical gaps impacting women and girls - particularly in safety, economic advancement, reproductive justice, and overall equity.
Held in recognition of Canadian Women’s History Month, WCWC is uniquely positioned at the intersection of academia and community. In partnership with leading academic institutions, the conference elevates evidence-informed dialogue and research-backed solutions, ensuring that conversations translate into meaningful, systems-level change. By bridging academic insight with lived experience, WCWC supports communities, especially smaller and rural regions, in developing practical, localized strategies to address complex challenges.
This year, we gather in Kamloops, BC, at the TRU Conference Centre under the theme: Rewriting the Rules: Women Designing the Systems that Shape Our Lives. Together, we will explore how to reshape the structures we work within, with a focus on Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+), gendered economic disparities, and equitable access to women’s healthcare.
Through dynamic panels, keynote speakers, and collaborative dialogue, WCWC creates space for bold thinking and collective action. This conference aims to take meaningful steps toward preventing further harm caused by outdated and inequitable systems.
