JULIE LEACH AND ARIEL BLUE FROM THE WESTCOAST BLACK THEATER WILL TAKE THE STAGE AT THE JANUARY 9TH LUNCHEON.
The Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, founded in 1999 by actor and playwright Nate Jacobs, produces musicals, comedies, and thought-provoking dramas that present and explore the Black experience. Drawing on the resilient spirit that allowed this troupe to survive the pandemic, WBTT has reimagined ways to stage its performances and fulfill its mission to promote inclusion and diversity in the arts.
Ariel Blue is an actor, singer and writer who has performed as a featured vocalist domestically and internationally. She has worked consistently with WBTT in many productions, including Ain’t Misbehavin,’ Sistas in the Name of Soul, The Amen Corner, Purlie, and Soul Man. She recently won the Best Actress award at the New York Theatre Festival – and at WBTT.
Julie Leach became Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe’s Executive Director in 2015 and was honored as a Woman of the Year by the Business and Professional Women of North Sarasota in 2025.
