Join us for a delightful evening of light appetizers and wine with a poetry reading from "Laughing in Yiddish" by award-winning author Jamie Wendt. "Laughing in Yiddish" takes readers to the shtetls of Russia's Pale of Settlement to look through various windows into the lives of Jewish women. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.Jamie Wendt is the author of the poetry collection "Laughing in Yiddish" (Broadstone Books, 2025), which was a finalist for the Philip Levine Prize in Poetry. Her first book, "Fruit of the Earth" (Main Street Rag, 2018), won the 2019 National Federation of Press Women Book Award in Poetry. Her poems and essays have been published in various literary journals and anthologies, including Feminine Rising, Catamaran, Lilith, Jet Fuel Review, Consequence, Atlanta Review, the Forward, and others. She contributes book reviews to the Jewish Book Council and is a Poetry Reader for The Good Life Review. Wendt holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
