Join us for the 2026 West Rehoboth Juneteenth Celebration, a weekend honoring the history, culture, resilience, and future of West Rehoboth’s historic Black community.
On Friday, June 19th from 5–9PM, Central Street will come alive with live music, food trucks, oral histories from West Rehoboth families, Black artists and handmade businesses, mural tours led by the Vann family, and the ringing of the bell at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. The evening will also feature acclaimed author Alexs D. Pate, author of West of Rehoboth, for a live reading at 6:30PM and author meet-and-greets throughout the celebration.
During the event, guests are invited to visit the DAC Artpothecary for The Colors of You, a special art exhibit by Kreator Mills exploring Black presence at the beach, moving from past to present to future. This show will be open Friday, June 19 5-9PM & Monday, June 22 5-9PM at the DAC Artpothecary 37401 Malloy St Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
The weekend continues on Saturday, June 20th with Writing Our Stories, a special Juneteenth writing workshop with Alexs D. Pate at the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society & Museum, exploring themes of family, memory, and place through storytelling.
Tickets: $55 | rbmuseum.org/events | 302-227-7310
This year’s celebration proudly welcomes The Waypoint Hotel as a community partner for hosting author Alexs D. Pate. This partnership also carries a meaningful connection to the historic Malloy Motel, once listed in The Green Book as a safe haven for Black travelers during segregation.
Thank you to the Carl M. Freeman Foundation for sponsoring the event in honor of Ms. Brenda Milbourne and in memory of Diaz Bonville.
The event features:
• Juneteenth Creative Market with 15 Black artists and handmade businesses
• Oral histories by West Rehoboth families
• West Rehoboth Legacy Mural Tours with the Vann family, mural artist Terrance Vann, and project historian Antoine Vann
• Mt. Pleasant Church Bell Ringing
