CENTENARY MATCHWe are delighted to mark the centenary of our historic home ground, West Park, Loughborough Road, West Bridgford on Thursday 4th June 2026 with a special match vs MCC, the Marylebone Cricket Club, the guardians of the Laws of Cricket and one of the world's oldest and most storied clubs.
Built in 1926 as a private ground for local benefactor and philanthropist Sir Julien Cahn's team, the ground hosted a number of remarkable games and notable players in the 1920s and 1930s, including international opposition in the West Indies, India and South Africa teams. Legion have played at West Park since 1947.
The centenary marks an occasion to look back at the past, but also to look ahead to the future. The Sir Julien Cahn Pavilion has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment by Rushcliffe Borough Council to become more environmentally friendly. Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club has invested significantly in the ground already as part of a 25-year lease, massively expanding the cricket offer to a huge cross-section of the community through the Trent Bridge Community Trust's work.
A bar serving a variety of drinks will be operated by Nottingham's own Grumpy Fish Brew Co, including a craft beer brewed specially for the occasion - the aptly named 100 Not Out, a 4.1% 'big hitter pale ale'.
We are also pleased to welcome pizza from Tossed Dough from 2.30pm, with breakfast cobs in the morning.
The action is due to start at 11.30am, and expected to finish by 6.30pm.
We are delighted to also offer a presentation on the ground's incredible history, with photographs and artifacts on display, and at 4.15pm Chris Hall, whose grandfather played in the very first match at West Park all those years ago, will speak about his grandfather's experiences with Sir Julien Cahn's XI.
A structured junior cricket activity will be on offer from 3.30pm.
All are welcome to enjoy and celebrate the occasion. There is plenty of parking within the park, which is also a 15-minute bus journey from the city centre via the green 10.
