This class introduces students to traditional West African dance through rhythm, movement and storytelling. Learn foundational steps, explore the connection between the drum and body and experience how dance can be used for expression and joy. The class emphasizes community, creativity, and wellness while honoring the cultural roots of the movements.Attire: comfortable clothing and move in bare feet or ballet/jazz shoes. You can bring a wrap skirt of any length or color to experience traditional movement styling. Extra skirts will be available for class use. Bring a bottle of water.
