Wes Urbaniak and The Mountain Folk is a genre bending band, but the roots always pull up like folk music. The live music world and the people in it have become as wild as the weather. WuMF has undergone significant changes while trying to embrace this new wild, but continues to progress through the simplicity of strings, harmonies, and foundational lyrics. There are so many special things about this band and its music, its artistic - through reclamation - endeavors, and its call to persist through the hard things is exceptional. For instance, even the instruments represent the story of the music. Each instrument contains original reclaimed Red Rocks Amphitheater bench redwood - *Wes is the Luthier behind the magical matter. You should watch the band try to explain it in its most simplest way. By listening to the music and thumbing through the story you’ll discover one of the most beautiful efforts whispered into song in these times while finding what's good and holding care for the world we live in.

The Lucky Valentines
These two have been making music together for 14 years, with three studio albums in their pocket. The most recent album, “Losses” is full of sorrow and hope, growth and magic. Produced by Josh Kaufman (The National, Taylor Swift, Bonny Light Horseman, Josh Ritter), it seeps authenticity and emotion - ranging from the loss of family, parents, and lifestyle, to the soaring joy of being Loved.
They’ve written upwards of eighty songs, and use a mix of folk melodic sensibilities, tight harmonies, and a whole lotta love to make sad things beautiful. Their sound could be bottled up as “Bruce Springsteen and Patty Griffin meet Shovels and Rope in a Gypsy Junkshop”. He sometimes uses a thirdhand suitcase as a kick drum, and the rotary phone from her father’s shop as a mic. She blends classical violin with raging folk passion. He channels John Prine and Hank Williams. They have played hundreds of live shows together and have been featured on MTPR’s Musician Spotlight, at Austin’s Iconic Hole in the Wall Cafe, the side stage of Red Ants Pants Music Festival, and were featured in the 2022 season of MTPBS’s award winning 11th and Grant with Eric Funk.
