Werbeniuk + Phil Martin

An original and distinctive band from Teesside in the North East of England. Known for their eclectic sound and chaotic live performances, the band each play multiple instruments, swapping between (and often during) songs. Forming in 2010, the band have gone through a few line-up changes, but continue to fuse conventional instrumentation with electronics, samples and loops, close-harmony vocals and unusual percussion – a hospital bedpan and 1970s laundry basket are among the instruments in the band’s arsenal. Combining all that with their often scathing socially aware lyrics, a strong sense of fun, and a punk, DIY ethos, their outsider art-pop is something unusual.
