WeOnFyre Cypher 37: GPB 3

WeOnFyre Cypher is an international community outreach and movement that originated as an idea created by FyreNation Crew co-founder Joy "Kuma" Gasaway in 2014 and launched in 2020. WeOnFyre Cypher provides monthly free, family-friendly, community events that travel to various areas in and around metro-Atlanta, as well as internationally to various countries including Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Congo, Tanzania, and the Philippines.

The events provide communities a safe intersection that allows others to experience, find, question and support the creative arts and movements, as well as uplift one of HipHop's cultural traditions--the cypher--which is a gathering of artists and appreciators who unite to display and share a common love for their artistry.

Even though it is international and has hosted tours in different countries since 2022, WeOnFyre Cypher NEVER charges attendance or vendors to attend, and strictly enforces that all of their events are family-friendly and safe, providing edited music choices, and safe vendor materials so that the experiences are 100% positive and safe for all.

Apart from events, WeOnFyre Cypher also provides the following:

• ArtisPrep Resource Center - a free online tool to help artists and creatives obtain the resources needed to further their careers safely and efficiently.
• The Nation Academy - a free online archive providing dancers with historical information on the history and origins of HipHop, as well as tutorials and class curriculum materials for teaching various forms of Street Dance.
• Novice 2 Nice Classes & Workshops/CypherMini's Kids Breakin' Program - both are stand-alone dance programs that partner with different organizations and even existing dance studio programs to provide authentic training in the foundation of Street Dance, and the history of HipHop Culture.
• BattleNation/CypherNation - BattleNation (18+) and CypherNation (6-`17) are competitive dance battle leagues structured as an extracurricular extension of the educational programs, providing students of all ages with safe, supportive platforms to compete.

Historical Fun Facts:

• WeOnFyre Cypher is the first-ever ATL-based event that is free, family-friendly since day one, and open to the general community to go international independently. It is also the first-ever ATL-based community dance event created by a Black woman to do so.
• WeOnFyre Cypher has an international event series call the WeOnFyre Cypher Expo, which debuted in Uganda in September of 2022. The first-ever international event for the series brought in 200+ attendees from surrounding villages and countries.
• The first-ever structured community cypher events to happen in Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Congo were all WeOnFyre Cypher events.
