Wells County Farm Bureau will be partnering with the Bluffton Parks Department to host a Summer Farm Program at Roush Park on Tuesday, June 9th and June 16th from 10:30-11:00 am each week. The 2026 Indiana Farm Bureau Book of the Year is "The Pie That Molly Grew" written by Sue Heavenrich with illustrations by Chamisa Kellogg. The book follows Molly as she goes on the journey of growing a pumpkin - from the planting of a single seed to harvest. The Book of the Year, which is selected annually, is a part of INFB's Agriculture in the Classroom program, a grassroots, agricultural outreach initiative for schoolchildren in Indiana. "This book was selected because it brings awareness to the pumpkin-growing process that takes place right here in Indiana," said Linda Sturgeon, Farm Bureau education and outreach coordinator. "Our goal is to reach more classrooms, schools, libraries and homes with a book that celebrates the importance of agriculture and educates children."
Linda will be sharing information about the way pumpkins are planted, cared for and harvested. Along with the many uses and products that come from pumpkins. She will be reading the book "The Pie That Molly Grew" and will be providing activities with a pumpkin theme. We hope to see you there!
