Guided tours in English at the permanent exhibitions of Adamson-Ericu museum and Niguliste Museum on the last Friday of each month.
At 2 p.m. – Adamson-Eric Museum
The Adamson-Eric Museum displays the oeuvre of one of the most versatile Estonian modernist artists, Adamson-Eric (1902–1968). He was a talented and exceedingly diverse creator who became a legend during his lifetime. Adamson-Eric was one of the few artists who was equally strong as a painter and in almost all of the areas of applied arts and design. Through various thematic and personal exhibitions, the museum has introduced Estonian expatriate art, the works of women artists and the oeuvres of Adamson-Eric’s contemporaries, with a focus on classical modernism.
At 3 p.m. – Niguliste Museum
The collection of the Niguliste Museum, located in Tallinn’s Old Town, represents the most remarkable and valuable part of Estonia’s medieval and early modern church art. The stars of the collection include late medieval altarpieces from northern Germany and the Netherlands, as well as Bernt Notke’s monumental late-15th-century painting Danse Macabre. A particularly valuable section of the collection is the Silver Chamber, displaying silverware from churches, guilds, and the Brotherhood of Black Heads from the 16th to the 20th century.
Welcome Tour is a series of guided tours in English at the Old Town branches of the Art Museum of Estonia, where museum professionals introduce Estonian cultural heritage and temporary exhibitions, ranging from medieval to contemporary art. Come and learn about Estonian art, culture and history. Everyone is welcome!
